Research Technician, nervous system connectivity. The new field of connectomics seeks to determine the wiring diagram of the nervous system. We are looking for a technician to participate in a connectomics project to reconstruct the nervous system of the nematode

C. elegans
, a tiny roundworm, is one of the central model organisms in modern biological research.
We are determining the wiring diagram of the nervous system of the
C. elegans
male. We are looking for a steady and patient individual to join our team analyzing serial section electron micrographs, scoring neurons and synapses, and constructing neuron maps. This individual should have sufficient background to appreciate the goal of our project and a strong desire to help us achieve it.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
The Research Technician working for Neuroscience and Genetics will analyze and interpret electron micrographs at a computer screen, enter data for images, interpret data, and construct neuron maps. There will be an opportunity to attend scientific meetings. A familiarity with computers and website design and maintenance will be useful.
B.A. or B.S. in related science
0-2 years experience or equivalent skills and experience are required.
The ideal candidate will have superior written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
